Bentley & Naim Audio Mix It Up….

21 June, 2008 – 11:27 am by Victor

One small sized british firm, a buy out by some german giants and we have ourselves a £5,000 musical showpiece to make your ears hear music like it’s being performed live in your car everyday. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, abit of a mouthful yes, but its jam packed packed with goodies!

One car, 20 Audio experts & 2 years of hard work & dedication brings us the £5k Naim Audio system.

Bentley believe the system which was specially created for the Spur by British firm Naim of Salisbury is the best audio ever fitted to a car… A very broad claim!

Naim Audio’s usual field is building high spec home audio setups for big money.

Bentley buyers have the £5,000 price tag to add this setup in thier motors but if you have the money to buy a spur, it may just be the finish to a car which deserves it!

TomTom speaks up about iPhone situation

13 June, 2008 – 10:03 pm by James

As if the iPhone 3G launch could really have any more misinformation floating around, we’ve got yet another tidbit that needs clarification. Shortly after Apple’s second iPhone was announced, out flew a report from Reuters suggesting that TomTom already had iPhone navigation software ready to go. French site Mac Generation was able to get ahold of TomTom spokesperson Yann Lafargue, and here’s the gist of what he had to say. First off, the aforementioned Reuters statement was said to be inaccurate, though he did affirm that an iPhone version of the software was running in the labs and working “pretty well.” Unfortunately, the question of “will you guys ship this for the iPhone?” was answered with a “We don’t know” style response, but he did clarify that the questionable SDK verbiage we saw wasn’t an obstacle at all. Click on the image to check out the full interview — hope you’re fluent in French and / or machine translation!

Binatone debut first UK sat nav with rear view camera

13 June, 2008 – 9:52 pm by James

The Binatone T430 adds extra justification for having a PND in the car by combining two technologies in one. By adding a colour rear view camera function, Binatone has met two consumer demands in one package providing huge savings over their discreet alternatives. The full featured turn by turn PND automatically switches over to rear view mode when reverse gear is selected. A full installation kit is supplied for the camera, which has been designed for mounting under or over the rear number plate using the existing screw holes.  The camera is linked wirelessly to the system on the dashboard but is connected by cable to a reversing light on the car to provide a power source and trigger to the camera.
The T430 is the first Binatone system to feature Navigator 7.0 high performance software.  Although easy to use for beginners, advanced features such as personal data management, advanced route planning and the ability to create and export track logs offer professional driver features. The T430 includes Bluetooth for hands-free call handling. Mapping covers the UK and Ireland with a full European map upgrade also available. The software includes safety camera locations and plays MP3/MP4 files from the SD card slot.

Sat the 31st of May marked the official opening of the Caraudiocentre Belfast!

In attendance was CARSPORT AND SLICK MAGAZINE, JOHN DEMSTER WITH HIS SPL meter and the gorgeous Katharine, and on loan from the Boys at INPHASE AUDIO was there impressive demo vehicle which hit the highest SPL of the day at 147.5db!! Not bad for a big boy, Followed by a Peugeot 306 hitting 135db! Both impressive scores but we’re sure there is louder out there are there any takers on that?

Jonny the proud owner of the store said “the day was a great success sure we offer low prices but that doesn’t mean we offer low service, service and good sound advice are what we pride ourselves in.

The store will be holding more open days and special events in the near future and there is rumour of a ‘Mobile Bass Fun Fair with its own Ball pit! What will he think of next?!

Jonny would like to thank all those who attended on the day INPHASE AUDIO, SLICK MAGAZINE, CARSPORT, SCOOBY IRELAND, AND THE LOCAL SQ+ CUSTOMERS SHOWING THERE SUPPORT!!!

Binatone continues to expand its sat nav range with the launch of the C350BT PND with integrated Bluetooth for use as a hands free speaker phone – and all for under £100!

When connected wirelessly to a mobile phone, the sat nav screen automatically converts into a keypad when receiving incoming calls. Similarly, the keypad can be used to dial out. The speaker is turned on and off (to accept or disconnect calls) by pressing one easily accessed button on the system.

“Although this is not the first system of its kind, we expect it to be the best priced on the High Street,” explained Adrian Green, Binatone Sales and Marketing Director. “With a suggested retail price of £99.99 we want it to encourage people to try the Bluetooth feature and use it as a ‘2 in 1’ device. Even though we are now introducing more sophisticated products to our sat nav range, it is still our policy to offer great value for money.”

The unit is slim and light and includes the latest Sirf Atlas III chipset for fast satellite signal connection. It features Navigator 7.0 high performance software which is easy to use but also offers a range of more advanced features such as: personal data management; advanced route planning; create and export track logs; save and load planned routes.

ModeLabs launches Bluetrek Metal: thinnest BT headset on Earth

3 June, 2008 – 11:24 pm by James

Every so often, we hear of yet another headset manufacturer claiming that their latest piece is in fact the smallest / lightest / most incredulous the world has ever seen. With the introduction of ModeLabs’ Bluetrek Metal, you can rest assured that everything is still running par for the course. This Bluetooth headset checks in at just 4-millimeters thick and 5.5-grams, and we’re told that the internal battery should last through 5-hours of yappin’ or a week in sleep mode. Interestingly, we haven’t a clue if this one’s headed Stateside, but those in Europe can pop one in their ear canal soon for €39 ($61) / €49 ($76) depending on hue.

BMW introducing updated, more customizable iDrive system

2 June, 2008 – 9:53 pm by James

It looks like BMW’s sometimes derided iDrive system is about to get another boost in features / complexity, with the automaker now apparently readying a whole slew of features that’ll add even more customization options to cars using the system. That will apparently include everything from screen savers and sound effects to tweaks in transmission shift points and engine boost levels, which could be customized to either increase fuel economy or improve overall performance. What’s more, those changes will apparently be able to be made from any internet-connected computer in addition to from inside the car itself, and you’ll be able to save multiple profiles that’ll be automatically activated whenever an individual’s key fob is in close proximity.

Be sure to hit up the read link below for the long list of new features.
