Bentley & Naim Audio Mix It Up….

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

One small sized british firm, a buy out by some german giants and we have ourselves a £5,000 musical showpiece to make your ears hear music like it’s being performed live in your car everyday. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, abit of a mouthful yes, but its jam packed packed with goodies!

One car, 20 Audio experts & 2 years of hard work & dedication brings us the £5k Naim Audio system.

Bentley believe the system which was specially created for the Spur by British firm Naim of Salisbury is the best audio ever fitted to a car… A very broad claim!

Naim Audio’s usual field is building high spec home audio setups for big money.

Bentley buyers have the £5,000 price tag to add this setup in thier motors but if you have the money to buy a spur, it may just be the finish to a car which deserves it!

BMW introducing updated, more customizable iDrive system

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

It looks like BMW’s sometimes derided iDrive system is about to get another boost in features / complexity, with the automaker now apparently readying a whole slew of features that’ll add even more customization options to cars using the system. That will apparently include everything from screen savers and sound effects to tweaks in transmission shift points and engine boost levels, which could be customized to either increase fuel economy or improve overall performance. What’s more, those changes will apparently be able to be made from any internet-connected computer in addition to from inside the car itself, and you’ll be able to save multiple profiles that’ll be automatically activated whenever an individual’s key fob is in close proximity.

Be sure to hit up the read link below for the long list of new features.

Audi R8 boasts LEDs aplenty

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Audi has already manged to work some LEDs into a few of its cars (concepts and otherwise), but the

automaker has gone all out with its latest Audi R8, which employs LEDs for seemingly every lighting function. That includes the 24-LED running lamps the R8 had before, along with some brand LED high and low beam headlights, and LED turn signals, which add up to some 54 LEDs in all. Of course, given the prices that single LED bulbs demand these days, it should come as no surprise that this is quite the pricey option, with it adding a full £1,800 to the R8’s already lofty sticker price.

NICE shows off prototype electric car, plains electric Range Rover!

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Some interesting electric car developments went down in England recently - Liberty Electric Cars announced plans to convert “tens of thousands” cars and SUVs to electric operation, starting with the Range Rover, and NICE previewed a scissor-door concept it’ll be showing at the London Auto Show. Liberty’s pumping £30M into a new factory that will start converting Range Rovers to electric vehicles using a “state-of-the-art” drivetrain good for 200 miles on a single charge. You’ll have to pay for the privilege, though — pricing is expected to run between £95,000 and £125,000.

Similarly, another UK company No Internal Combustion Engine (NICE, very cute) is previewing an all-electric sports car that it plans to show off at the London Auto Show in July. Although it’s just a prototype, the company says that it hints at a future production model. Details are pretty light, but here’s hoping those hot scissor doors make in into production.
