Every Long Distance Driver Should Have One

29 May, 2008 – 6:35 pm

We’ve all been there, cruising down the Motorway whatever it is in the fast lane (well within the speed limit of course) reminiscing on a long weekend well spent when all of a sudden the shuddering of the hard shoulder lets you know you nodded off and in fact are 30 miles closer to home than you though. Bonus. Or not, as more likely than not you’re dead.

For just such a scenario there now exists the imaginatively entitled Anti-Sleep Driving Alarm, which admittedly looks rubbish and will no doubt look even worse when stuffed in your lughole, Bluetooth headset style.

But aesthetics are not the issue here. Rather than make you look good, the ASDA (as we like to call it - no affiliation to the supermarket chain) recognises when your head angles down as you nod off at the wheel and emits an ear-shattering alarm to scare the bejesus out of you.
