Portable Satalite Navigation system with Bluetooth, Voice Command,
Extra large 5 Inch Screen and Maps for 37 Countries.
Panasonic announced the launch in the European market of the Strada CN-GP50N
Portable Navigation System. This marks the first European product launch for
Panasonic's Strada navigation systems, which have been well received in Japan
and North America.
The CN-GP50N goes far beyond GPS navigation, offering a comprehensive approach
to in-car entertainment that encompasses the pinnacle of Panasonic's mobile
audio-video technologies exemplified by Strada Picture (high picture quality
technology), Strada Sound (high sound quality design) and Strada Link (multi-media
networking).
The CN-GP50N is equipped with a 5 inch (12.5cm) Wide Display with Touch Panel
Control and an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), designed for outstanding
usability and legibility. Voice Command capability allows the driver to set
the destination while driving, without compromising safety.
Map data covers 37 European nations in total. Panasonic has also enhanced the
convenience of map updating by enabling a USB connection as one of the media
options. For greater driving comfort and convenience, the Strada system offers
many feature enhancements including 3D Landmark display of major landmarks as
three-dimensional icons, Lane Assistant to support smooth lane changing, and
Speed Information to warn the driver when the vehicle exceeds the speed limit.
The CN-GP50N also has Real-Time Traffic Information (RDS-TMC) display capability
when used with a separately available receiver.
The CN-GP50N provides extensive support for Bluetooth capable mobile telephones,
including not only hands-free operation, but also transfer of mobile phonebooks
and direct dialling of numbers listed for points of interest (POI) in the map
database. The system can also display still photos stored in SD Memory Cards.
Feature Explanation:
1. Easy to Use
5 inch (12.5cm) Wide Monitor with Touch Panel
The CN-GP50N is equipped with a 5 inch (12.5cm) QVGA Wide Monitor - generously
large for a portable GPS unit - and adopts a touch-panel system, to permit easy
operation by a broad spectrum of users.
Easy-to-Use GUI
This simple and intuitively understandable graphical user interface (GUI) is
an original Panasonic design. Icon colours and textures are crafted to contrast
with their backgrounds and enhance recognition and differentiation.
Compact & Slim Design
With its compact dimensions of 128 (W) x 84 (H) x 30 (D) mm, this slim package
is designed for comfortable portability. After parking the vehicle, the user
can easily remove and carry the CN-GP50N, rather than leaving it where it could
pose a temptation to would-be thieves. The unit can also be used outside the
vehicle or at home, thanks to its built-in battery, which offers about four
hours of operation, and charging adaptor.
Note: CN-GP50N has full built-in GPS antenna and fixing bracket included, however
a full list of accessories is proposed such as external GPS antenna, charging
adaptors, fixing bracket and TMC antenna among others.
Voice Command
By using voice commands, the driver can set the destination while keeping hands
on the steering wheel. The system can by trained to recognize the driver?s vocal
characteristics for enhanced recognition accuracy. Easy-to-Use Keyboard
Three keyboard layouts can be selected: ABCD, QWERTY and AZERTY. Accented letters
can also be input, allowing users to type in destinations in the manner to which
they are accustomed.
2. High Performance
Vast Coverage across Europe
New map data covers 37 European countries in total, which includes a wealth
of information, including 1.7 million points of interest (POI), postal codes
and much more.
Map Coverage (37 Countries):
Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece,
Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Monaco,
the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San
Marino, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland
and Vatican
Easy Map Updates
Maps can be updated easily by transferring the latest map data to the SD Memory
Card. If the user's computer does not accept SD Memory Cards, a USB cable can
be used to transfer data.
Multi-Lingual Voice Guidance
The user can choose from among 19 languages for voice guidance. When travelling
across borders, the ability to receive guidance on routes and turns in one'ss
native language helps support safe driving and avoids the distraction of having
to refer to maps. Menu indications can be displayed in the user'ss choice of
16 languages.
21 Language Voice Guidance:
Czech, Danish, Dutch, English (UK), English (US), Finnish, Flemish, French,
German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish,
Swedish, Turkish and more..
3D Landmark
Famous landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and Arc de Triomphe are shown
as three-dimensional icons on the map. The database holds icons for 220 landmarks
in Austria, France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal,
Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
Lane Assistant
As the driver approaches a junction where a turn is required, the display shows
the correct lane in orange on the map and alerts the driver with voice guidance.
When driving a route for the first time, this helps the driver prepare ahead
of time, thereby avoiding last-minute lane changes.
Speed Information
By comparing the vehicle'ss speed, as determined by GPS, with speed limit data
for the road being travelled, the system is able to determine when the speed
limit is exceeded and alert the driver with an icon display and audible warning.
Note: This function can be adjusted or disabled.
Speed Camera Information
When the vehicle approaches a speed camera zone known to the database, the system
alerts the driver with an on-screen icon together with an audible warning.
GPS Assist
When obstacles such as tall buildings or hills block reception of GPS data,
GPS Assist compensates by applying other available information. This enables
a more viable representation of vehicle position on the navigation display.
Real-Time Traffic Information Ready
When fitted with a separately sold receiver, the CN-GP50N uses icons and highlights
to show the latest traffic information (RDS-TMC), including traffic accidents,
road works, bad weather and so on, in an easy-to-understand format. Alternative
routes are also computed, as necessary, to avoid potential obstacles reported
by the traffic information system. Information can also be presented in text
format, if desired.
3. Mobile Digital Networking
Bluetooth Hands-Free Calling
The CN-GP50N provides hands-free operation with Bluetooth-capable mobile phones.
This convenient function offers convenience and safety, by allowing the driver
to carry on a telephone conversation while leaving the mobile phone in a bag
or pocket. Dialing can be performed directly by touching the large numeric keypad
displayed on the screen, or numbers can be chosen from the incoming and outgoing
call history display.
* The Bluetooth word mark and logo are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc and any
use of such marks by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is under license.
Phone Book Transfer
Phonebook data can be transferred wirelessly from the mobile phone* to the CN-GP50N.
* The phone must support the OPP standard.
POI Direct Dial
After finding a point of interest using the POI search function, the driver
can directly dial the telephone number listed in the database for that facility.
This is convenient for making reservations at restaurants, for example.
JPG/BMP Viewer
Still photos stored in jpg or bmp file format on an SD Memory Card can be displayed
on the CN-GP50N screen. This enables large 5 inch (12.5cm) diagonal display
of photos taken with a digital camera, for example. A variety of playback modes
can be selected to provide a sequential slide show or random display with a
choice of five settings for the image switching time.
