JVC KV-PX701 Features:

In May this year we reported that electronics giant JVC had decided to leave the Personal Navigational Devices market, and now the company surprises us with the announcement of the new KV-PX701 and KV-PX501.

Integration

Vice president Bill Turner of the JVC mobile division was very clear about it last May: “We are leaving this market, mostly because with portable navigational systems, it’s all about the sales price these days. Also, new brands try their luck on this market every almost every day. This made us decide to focus on integrated, built-in navigational units.” But he also said: “We will however continue to keep our eye on the PND market, and we might return in the future once the prices have become more stable.”. Navigon

Both new JVC PND’s run on the Mobile Navigator Classic software by Navigon, and are shipped including NAVTEQ map material for the entire European continent. The largest of the two, the KV-PX701, features a 4.3 inch touch screen, a 400 Mhz Samsung CPU and a SiRF Star III chipset. RDS/TMC comes built into the device.

The smaller brother, the KV-PX501, features a 3.5 inch touch screen and uses the same CPU, but is dependent on a Media Tec chipset for the GPS reception. The RDS/TMC receiver for this model is built into the car mount.
