why no android??

Seriously, I would not buy apple products... so over-rated. Seems we have a few more years to go before the notion of apple being up market and android being inferior is commonly understood as nonsense. In the meantime, Clarion and other hardware manufacturers pander to popular taste in the USA.
Expensive for what it is

Fitted by the excellent staff at Ilford.
I cannot fault those guys, there were brilliant.
My disappointment is with the unit.
Lets be honest, it's "fugly". It sticks out at least an inch from the rest of the dash because of the internal mechanics of the flip out screen. I'd have preferred losing an inch of the screen size if it means the unit would close nice and flush.
The lights are blue and you can't change the colours to match your dash. For a £500 unit I'd expect this feature.
The info displayed on this is limited. It displays "Song title & Artist" for Bluetooth Audio but NOT for Ipod??? The iPod integration is via the USB cable so why can't it read the MP3 tags? Instead it shows track number and track time, that's it. For calls, great, you get the phone number and if stored in your phonebook the name. I know most people would probably drive with the screen out but at night time, in the dark, it's better to have it closed and rely on the LCD as opposed to a bright screen glaring out of your dash while driving.
Can't fault it. With the latest software update, the call quality is there and nice crisp audio when streaming music, and as mentioned above, the music tag info is displayed on the external screen. On the flip out screen, the display is very smooth with a modern look, album art and music info displayed nicely.
A huge disappointment. Firstly, it does NOT recognise my iPOD nano (6th Gen) at all so I can't use it with this unit, despite the Clarion website showing this specific iPod on their illustrations.
It does however recognise an iPhone 4 and 5S so this is what I've been using. Cover art nicely displayed on the flip out screen, but only track number and time on the external LCD?? Oh dear.
I've had no response from Clarion regarding my iPod issues either, probably because this model is now over 3 years old.
Again, very limited. The display on the flip out screen is ugly showing folders on your USB device and you can only play one folder at a time, with the only repeat option being "repeat track" or "repeat folder", meaning if you want to play ALL tracks you have to put them all in a single folder.
This is by far the best part of the unit, lovely clear maps, clear instructions and can be used with the screen out or closed (Audio only when closed). Music volume is lowered during Map annoucements which is optional but useful.
The internal mic is poor, so external mic is required.
Touchscreen / UI:
Nice and responsive with a modern UI compared to other equivalent flip/out/single DIN models.
And you can change the order of your iCONs, just press and hold and drag.
DVD / USB video:
I've never used this and it's only permitted when the hand brake is on, so not something I'd ever be using anyway.
Not used on my vehicle.
Overall, with the price of £200 to fit, this have cost me £700 and for that price I expected to love this, but it's disappointing.
My advice would be to find a local dealer with this unit on display and working so you can have a play. i didn't and wish I had.
I just hope Clarion reply to my emails and provide an update to the iPOD/USB features as currently it's unclear which iPOD devices are compatible (their website doesn't even list NZ502E on their iPod compatibility page)

Best price anywhere and next day delivery. Great product if you need single din. Display on top edge of screen is perfect when you don't need the nav and whole unit looks and feels good quality. Would be five stars but came with the +ve power lead not in the plug block and blows fuse everytime it comes lose and means dash out to sort everytime - manufacturer issue, not car audio centre.
