Amazing Bang for Buck!

Where to start... Firstly, it's Pioneer, so you know built quality is going to be top notch. I fitted this Head unit to my 2009 Civic Type R which isn't the easiest car in the world to install into. I used the face plate and bracket that comes with the Connects2 Fascia and screwed the unit to the bracket for extra stability.
Some reviews on the web have said that the screen is hard to see in daylight. I’ve not really experienced any issues except for when my automatic headlights turned on even though the sun was out. This dimmed the screen as it thought it was time to turn Night mode on, and it did affect the visibility somewhat. But turning the headlights off sorted this. The touch screen input is responsive for a capacitive screen, and although it’s still not as finessed as a capacitive screen, it’s not really a make or break scenario considering the cost of the unit.
Sound:
What a difference. The only problem I have is that the sound is so good from this unit I have to use high quality MP3's or FLAC so I don't notice the imperfections. This head unit was added to my car which already I had already replaced the factory speakers out for Pioneers last year. Along with this unit I also had a Sub and Amp installed too.
Features:
The ability to play off CD/DVD, USB, SD, iPod, as well as Phones means you have plenty of options. I mostly just use the SD card so I can just plug it in and forget about it. The amount of control you have over the unit’s sound is second to none. The Crossover settings, as well as the option to control the volume of each speaker individually allow you to perfectly fine tune this system exactly how you want it. There is also the option to use a Pioneer microphone and let the system set the EQ for you but I haven’t done this.
Video playback is impressive, and for the size of the screen is pretty clear, but I can’t see it being a feature I would personally use too much if I am honest. Still nice to know it’s there though.
Customisation such as being able to select the illumination colour of the buttons is great as it means you can select a colour theme to match the car (mine are set to red to match the red and black interior of the Type R). There is also the option to set custom wallpapers and splash screens too which is a nice touch.
To me, one of the stand out features is the removable faceplate. Great security feature as anyone peering into a car and seeing a 7” screen is going to want to yank it out. The way Pioneer have made the entire faceplate removable is an impressive feat.
Android Auto:
This feature was the main reason I selected this unit. Plug your phone into the unit and fire up Android Auto and a host of features are routed through to the Head unit. Apps such as Whatsapp and Text messages are displayed as Google Now Cards and can be tapped which then speaks the messages out to you. You can touch the microphone icon and speak back your reply, or hit the automated “I’m Driving right now” response.
Calls are also taken through the unit, and the sound quality is clear. I mounted the microphone on top of my steering wheel column and it picks up people talking in the back seat too.
Music either locally on your phone or via Google play music can be streamed to the stereo and popular voice commands can be used such as “play some house music” so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
The most notable feature though is Google Maps, and the ability to use the screen to display the route is pretty much the number one factor in my selection. Maps can be displayed full screen while you are listening to music either via the phone or any other media such as SD.
I have experienced lag on a couple of occasions, but this was traced back to the phone and not the head unit itself. Android Auto is still in it’s early stages so it’s going to improve as time goes on.
I haven’t tried Apple Carplay so can’t really comment on that side of things.
As a whole, definitely a unit worth considering if you are looking for a Double DIN upgrade with premium features without entirely breaking the bank.
Had issues with my order initially, but as this is a product review I will keep it to that and rate my review on the product alone.

Would like to have this fitted to my 2009 Honda Civic along with a reverse camera.
What other parts including facia would I need. Would like to maintain all oem functions such as aircon. And also the steering wheel controls.
Plus how much would installation be and duration
Many thanks.
Simply amazed

Bought this a week back to put in my ford transit mini bus. And I have been blown away with this head unit. Even with apple and android play which works perfectly , I decided to try my 1tb hard drive to see if it will work. To my amazement everything on my hard drive worked perfectly. Plays all the audio and video files. Thanks to the guys at car audio centre on Great Ducie st Manchester was a great help.
Has some small issues but nothing that has put me off
1. Can only use port one to connect to the rear screens. Port one is also for Apple play so had to keep swapping wires.
2. No remote included. For what you are paying for the head unit they should have included a remote with the unit.
3. Not more apps available in the apple play.
In general I am really happy with this unit if you like me and had everything on usb this unit is for you.
